Chief of Staff to the CEO Job at Electric Capital, San Francisco, CA

Job Description

About the Company

We're building the company which will de‑risk the largest infrastructure build‑out in history. When people finance GPU clusters, the datacenters housing them, and the infrastructure powering them, they need "offtake" – meaning someone has signed a contract to lease the cluster for a period of time before it's even built.

Financing a GPU cluster is inherently risky, since margins are thin and volumes are huge. Lenders don’t want to take on the risk that cluster developers can’t repay their loan, and cluster developers really don’t want to risk not selling their cluster. As a result, risk is offloaded to the customer using fixed‑price long‑term contracts.

If you don’t mitigate this customer risk, there’s a bubble. This isn’t SaaS anymore – application‑layer companies sign multi‑year contracts for computer and inference, but sell to customers on monthly subscriptions. If you mess up a purchase, it’s game over: a minor shift in your revenue growth rate might mean the difference between profit or bankruptcy. But what if companies could exit their contract by selling it back to the market?

Otherwise, as AI scales, compute only becomes available to folks who can effectively take on that risk. A 2‑person startup in a San Francisco Victorian can’t realistically sign a 5‑year take‑or‑pay contract on $100m supercomputers. But they may be able to buy the month of liquidity that someone else sold back.

So that’s what we make: a liquid market for GPU offtake.

Chief of Staff

SF Compute is seeking a Chief of Staff to the CEO to serve as a strategic partner and force multiplier to the CEO. This role combines strategy, operations, and execution, working closely with the CEO on the highest‑impact priorities and decisions shaping the company’s future. The Chief of Staff will drive cross‑functional initiatives, help translate company priorities into action across the leadership team, and ensure key decisions move from alignment to measurable outcomes across the organization. This role requires a five days in‑person presence in our San Francisco office.

What You Will Do
  • Serve as a trusted partner and thought partner to the CEO on strategy, prioritization, and critical business decisions.
  • Help identify organizational bottlenecks and ambiguous problems, structure them into actionable plans, and drive resolution with the right owners.
  • Translate and coordinate key decisions, analysis, and recommendations into clear actions the leadership team can execute quickly by aligning stakeholders and following through on commitments.
  • Build enough understanding of our business, market, financing, and deal dynamics to engage in strategic discussions and tradeoffs.
  • Represent the CEO in select internal and external conversations with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
Who You Are
  • Strong technical fluency and ability to engage with Engineering, GTM, and Product leaders on complex topics (AI/ML, infrastructure, architecture, etc.).
  • Experience operating in high‑growth, P0‑to‑1 environments where priorities evolve quickly.
  • High‑agency operator who takes ownership, works through ambiguity, and closes loops without needing direction.
  • Trusted, discreet, and low‑ego, with strong judgment around sensitive information and relationships.
  • Strong communicator who can create alignment internally and represent the company externally when needed.
Benefits
  • Generous equity grant
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Visa sponsorship (work permits)
  • Retirement matching – we match 401(k) plans up to 4%
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance – cover 100% of premiums for employees and dependents
  • Unlimited paid time off and 10+ observed holidays
  • Parental leave for biological, adoptive, and foster parents
  • Daily lunch covered
  • Unlimited office book budget
